Restaurant Manager

Salary: $80,000 per annum, plus superannuation
Hanoi Star Pty Ltd, trading as Saigon Times, is seeking a full-time Restaurant Manager to oversee and support the daily operations of its Vietnamese restaurant located in Glenelg, South Australia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing restaurant operations, coordinating staff, maintaining food and service quality, and ensuring customers receive a consistent and enjoyable dining experience. The role requires strong leadership, sound knowledge of hospitality operations, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Vietnamese restaurant environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the restaurant across dine-in, takeaway, and delivery service channels to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery.
- Supervising and coordinating front-of-house and kitchen staff to ensure clear communication, efficient workflow, and consistent service standards.
- Planning and organising staff rosters, managing staffing levels, allocating daily duties, and monitoring employee performance.
- Assisting with recruitment, staff induction, training, and ongoing supervision to ensure employees understand service procedures, hygiene standards, and customer service expectations.
- Maintaining food quality, presentation, and service consistency, particularly in relation to Vietnamese dishes, beverages, and customer orders.
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, workplace health and safety, and other relevant hospitality regulations.
- Monitoring customer service standards, handling customer enquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally, and implementing service improvements where required.
- Managing stock control, stock rotation, ordering, and supplier coordination for food, beverages, packaging, and restaurant operating supplies.
- Supporting menu implementation, pricing updates, and operational procedures to reflect the restaurant’s Vietnamese food offering and customer demand.
- Monitoring labour costs, sales performance, payroll processes, daily reports, and other operating expenses to support cost control and business profitability.
- Maintaining cleanliness, presentation, and operational efficiency across dining areas, kitchen areas, storage areas, and service counters.
- Ensuring the restaurant meets its commercial, compliance, staffing, and customer service objectives.
Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidate must have:
- A Diploma or higher qualification in Hospitality Management, Business Management, or a relevant field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in restaurant management or a similar supervisory role.
- Strong leadership, staff supervision, and team coordination skills.
- Experience managing restaurant operations in a busy dine-in, takeaway, and delivery environment.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- A sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, stock control, staff rostering, and hospitality service procedures.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Knowledge of Vietnamese cuisine or Asian restaurant operations will be highly regarded.
