RESTORATION TECHNICIAN
Biohazard Australia is a leading restoration and biohazard decontamination company providing specialised services across water damage, fire damage, mould remediation, sewage contamination, forensic cleaning, and property decontamination.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and self-motivated Restoration Technician to join our growing field team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, working in different environments, and being part of a team that restores properties after damage or contamination events.
As a Restoration Technician, you will attend job sites alongside our Senior Technicians and assist with assessments, mitigation works, restoration activities, demolition/strip-out works, cleaning, and decontamination.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend residential, commercial, government, healthcare, and insurance-related job sites with Senior Technicians
- Assist with site assessments, restoration works, remediation, and decontamination activities
- Carry out water, fire, mould, sewage, forensic, and biohazard remediation works under supervision
- Perform demolition and strip-out works including removal of affected wall linings, ceilings, flooring, fittings, and contents
- Set up and operate restoration equipment, containment systems, drying equipment, HEPA filtration devices, and cleaning equipment
- Prepare equipment, materials, tools, and consumables for fieldwork
- Communicate daily with office staff regarding job updates, scope of works, reporting, equipment, materials, and time records
- Liaise professionally with clients, building occupants, contractors, and other stakeholders on site
- Follow company procedures, OH&S safety requirements, and site-specific instructions
- Assist with after-hours and emergency works when required
About You
The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and develop within the restoration industry.
You will ideally possess the following:
- 2–3 years’ experience in restoration field
- Certified in a minimum of two IICRC or ITI accreditations:
- Water Damage Restoration
- Carpet Cleaning
- Applied Structural Drying
- Fire and Smoke Restoration
- Applied Microbial Remediation
- Odour Control
- Trauma Scene Clean Up
- Demonstrated understanding of:
- IICRC S500 - Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration
- IICRC S520 - standard and Reference Guide for Professional Mould Remediation
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Experience or confidence with strip-out works, including walls, ceilings, flooring, and fittings
- Reliable, punctual, physically fit, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions from Senior Technicians
- Good written and verbal English communication skills
- Professional customer service skills when dealing with clients and site contacts
- Ability to use mobile apps, tablets, computers, and Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of building and construction is highly regarded
- White Card / General Construction Induction card is required
- Valid driver’s licence, minimum P1
- Willingness to travel to job sites across NSW, including travel up to 300km when required
- Availability to work outside normal business hours when required
- Right to work in Australia
- Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing, Working with Children Check, and a National Police Check
- Tetanus and Hepatitis A/B vaccinations, or willingness to obtain them
