The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Manager, Operations to provide a critical role within Sentence Management.
About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS), inclusive of both Corrections Victoria (CV) and Corrections and Justice Services (CJS), are responsible for the management and operation of Victoria's adult correctional system. DJCS are committed to enhancing community safety and reducing recidivism through CV's effective administration of prison sentences, CJS' enforcement of community-based orders, and the delivery of evidence-based offender centric rehabilitation services that are responsive to the risk and needs of all prisoners and offenders.
Corrections Victoria oversees the Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Service Delivery Model which provides an end-to-end framework, inclusive of intelligence services, legislative provisions, policies and procedures that support the management of individuals convicted of terrorism offences and those that pose a risk of violent extremism in prisons or subject to a community-based order, including post sentence Continuing Detention Orders. Corrections Victoria's approach to countering violent extremism is based on current and emerging evidence of good practice rehabilitation and reintegration of religiously and ideologically motivated violent extremist prisoners and offenders.
Counter Terrorism Coordination (CTC), within the Sentence Management Division, are responsible for the central oversight and governance of the CVE Service Delivery model across prisons and Community Correctional Services. CTC will ensure the integrity of the end-to-end model, identifying and implementing system improvements and providing expert advice and support to operational staff managing the violent extremist (VE) cohort.
About the Role
The Manager, Operations, will be responsible for oversight and governance of the operational implementation of Corrections Victoria's Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Service Delivery Model.
Some of your duties will include:

Provide professional leadership and guidance to CTC staff, fostering an environment that maximises staff potential and a culture of integrity.

Provide authoritative advice to operational staff and key interdepartmental stakeholders in relation to the legislative functions and operation of the CVE service delivery model, and the role and function of CTC.

Lead the development of operational policies to support the implementation of the CVE service delivery, including robust quality assurance processes.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:

Knowledge of Corrections Victoria policies, procedures and relevant legislation and regulations.

Practical knowledge and understanding of a corrections environment including emerging issues in the management of violent extremist offenders and prisons in custody or subject to a community-based order.

Knowledge and/or experience relating to Countering Violent Extremism would be an advantage.
Qualifications/requirements

A relevant tertiary qualification would be an advantage.
