Your opportunity to train the tradie
CQUniversity is seeking an experienced electrical trades professional to pass on their skills. Become an Electrical TAFE Teacher and mentor, guide and influence the next generation of electricians.
Teaching into the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, you’ll support students to select, install, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in buildings and premises.

Your week
CQUniversity operates under a structured Vocational Education and Training (VET) workload model that recognises both teaching time and the work done outside the classroom environment.
36.25 hrs/week (full-time) covering teaching, preparation, marking and student support.
Teaching time is typically 22 hrs/week, with up to 25 hrs by agreement – no more than 9 teaching hours in a day.
Prep and marking are included in your paid hours – not done in your own time.
Flexible start and finish times, planned around teaching needs, with flexibility supported where possible to accommodate personal, family and carer responsibilities.
What you’ll need
A relevant electrical trade qualification, such as a Certificate III in Electrotechnology or similar.
A Queensland Electrical Licence, or the ability to obtain.
Current hands-on industry experience in areas such as electrical installation, maintenance, fault finding, testing, commissioning or industrial environments.
An interest in mentoring apprentices, sharing your knowledge, and guiding learners in both workshop and classroom settings.
Previous teaching experience is not required, however you must be willing to work in a structured teaching environment that includes assessment, documentation and student support.
