Female Support Worker – Dementia Support (Casual)
Location: Burpengary, QLD
Ipswich Holistic Community Care (IHCC) is seeking a compassionate and reliable female support worker to support an older female participant in her 60s living with dementia in the Burpengary area.
This role involves providing in-home and community-based support, including personal care. Due to the nature of the supports and the participant’s privacy, dignity, and comfort needs, a female-identifying support worker is required for this role.
About the Role
You will be supporting a participant to maintain independence, safety, and quality of life through consistent, person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting with daily living activities/ Dementia trained
- Providing personal care, including hygiene and dressing
- Supporting dementia-related needs with patience and understanding
- Assisting with meal preparation and light household tasks
- Supporting community access such as shopping and appointments
- Providing companionship, reassurance, and emotional support
- Monitoring wellbeing and reporting changes or concerns
- Identifying and reporting any real or potential risks of harm
Skills & Experience:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Ability to build trust and rapport
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and follow care plans
Essential Requirements:
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Working with Children Check (if required)
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Driver’s Licence
- Reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Smartphone for work-related communication
Formal qualifications are preferred but not essential if the applicant has relevant experience.
Recommended qualifications include Certificate III or higher in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability, or Community Services.
