About the role:
The purpose of this role is to provide strong strategic and operational leadership for Anglicare Southern Queensland’s Foster and Kinship Care and Family Intervention Services , ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, child-centred services aligned with Anglicare’s mission, values, practice frameworks, and legislative requirements.
As Service Manager, you will lead a team of coordinators and practitioners who work alongside foster and kinship carers, children, young people, families, and key stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes. Through effective leadership, innovative thinking, and a commitment to continuous improvement, you will ensure services are delivered ethically, safely, and in alignment with organisational priorities.
As a key member of the leadership team, you will contribute to strategic planning, workforce capability development, quality improvement, risk management, and service growth. You will build strong relationships with internal teams, government departments, community partners, carers, families, and other stakeholders to strengthen Anglicare’s reputation as a trusted provider of Foster and Kinship Care services.
This role requires a leader who can balance strategic direction with operational excellence, support evidence-informed practice, and foster a positive culture focused on achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.
This is a fixed-term, full-time maternity leave cover position for 12 months , based in the Brisbane North Region.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to Foster and Kinship Care and Family Intervention services, ensuring safe, high-quality, child-centred outcomes for children, young people, carers, and families.
- Lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams by fostering a positive, inclusive, and client-focused culture.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with foster and kinship carers, families, government departments, community partners, parishes, and key stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement by implementing effective service delivery models, policies, systems, and processes that enhance outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Manage service performance, budgets, and financial sustainability while ensuring responsible resource management and alignment with organisational priorities.
- Contribute to strategic planning, business development, and service growth opportunities aligned with Anglicare’s vision, mission, and strategic direction.
- Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, funding, and organisational requirements, including child safety, quality standards, and accreditation obligations.
- Lead risk management practices by identifying, mitigating, and monitoring risks while embedding a proactive safety and quality culture.
- Champion innovation, evidence-based practice, and positive change management to improve service effectiveness and client outcomes.
- Provide strong governance and operational oversight, including workforce planning, performance management, incident response, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements
- Degree in Health, Human Services, Behavioural Science, Social Work, Psychology or similar (this is an essential requirement of the role)
- Current Blue Card
- Current Licenced Care Service (LCS)
- Current Queensland Driver Licence
- Post-graduate qualification in Health, Human Services or similar (desired)
- Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in Business Management (desired)
- Ability and willingness to travel within the service region
About You:
- Ability to lead and develop a client-centered service ensuring exceptional quality outcomes for clients, families, and significant others.
- Capacity to implement effective management tools to support service delivery and improvements (e.g., budgeting, controls, processes, policies, and systems).
- Experience in managing financial performance and ensure sustainability of community, human services, or healthcare service.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Skilful in building effective and collaborative relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
- Adept at managing and mitigate risks effectively within the service environment.
- Demonstrate leadership capabilities and influence positive change management.
- Demonstrated expertise in business development skills to grow the service in alignment with organizational strategic plans.
