Gordonvale State High School is located 23km south of Cairns at the base of the world's highest freestanding natural pyramid (922m) - Walshs Pyramid, (Bundadjarruga).
Established at its present site in 1965, the school has developed a strong reputation for its provision of educational opportunities across academic, vocational, agricultural and sporting areas.

The successful applicant will lead a range of strategic and operational priorities across the school, working collaboratively with the Principal and broader leadership team to drive continuous improvement and strengthen outcomes for all students.
Responsibilities include:
Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
Deputise for the Principal when required.
Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
Set high standards for student and staff performance.

Highly developed relational and communication skills are essential, as the Deputy Principal will play an important role within the school's strategic leadership team.
You will be an innovative, highly organised, and reflective leader committed to evidence-informed practice.
You will demonstrate the ability to lead and inspire others, support high-quality teaching and learning, manage complex and competing priorities, and contribute to a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous growth.
Experience leading whole-school improvement initiatives, developing staff capability and using data to inform strategic decision-making will be highly regarded.
