The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced practitioner with at least 8 years’ PQE to join our Melbourne Insurance team working alongside Nieva Connell. The team represents some of Australia’s largest insurers on insurance claims relating to property damage, strata insurance, and personal injury.
You will be responsible for:
Advising insurers on coverage, liability, quantum, and strategy
Preparing pleadings, evidence, advices, and settlement proposals
Appearing in the County, Supreme and Federal Courts, participating in and conducting interlocutory hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences
Building strong relationships with insurer clients and claims managers
Mentoring junior lawyers and supporting their development
This position will be an initial 12-month maximum term contract with scope for extension.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have the following:
8+ years’ PQE from a reputable defendant insurance practice. Relevant in-house experience will be considered
Strong drafting, advocacy, strategy and negotiation skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to nurture client relationships
A commercial mindset and client service focus
Experience in mentoring junior lawyers will be highly regarded
