Synergie Australia is seeking Survey Officers - Recreational Fishing to support Fisheries Queensland at local boat ramps across Bundaberg and Burnett Heads.
The important parts:
- Casual weekend and weekday shifts available
- Morning and afternoon shifts on Fridays and weekends
- $39.67 Friday, $55.54 Saturday and $71.40 Sunday rates including casual loading
- Flexible casual opportunity with ongoing seasonal work
- Full training provided by Fisheries Queensland
What you will be required to do:
Working independently at local boat ramps and recreational fishing areas, you will collect important survey information from recreational fishers to support fisheries research activities.
- Interview recreational fishers about their catch and fishing activities
- Identify, measure, and record fish species accurately
- Use tablets or mobile devices to enter survey data
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures while working near water and vessels
- Provide professional customer service while engaging with the public
To be successful in the role you will:
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate reliability and the ability to work autonomously
- Have an interest or knowledge of recreational fishing and fish species
- Be confident using mobile phones, tablets, or basic technology
- Hold a current Driver Licence and reliable transport preferred
- Be physically capable of occasional manual handling and climbing in and out of boats if required
- Have valid Australian working rights
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety
