Velvoras is looking for an energetic, charismatic and reliable Guest Experience Host to join our team and deliver our creative experiences and private events. This is not a traditional retail role with fixed shop hours. Velvoras operates primarily around bookings, with shifts scheduled around confirmed public workshops, private celebrations and corporate events.
We are looking for someone who is already comfortable hosting people, leading groups and creating exceptional guest experiences.
You may be a great fit if you have experience in:
- Events, functions or brand activations
- Premium hospitality or hotels
- Weddings and private events
- Luxury retail or beauty
- Galleries, exhibitions or visitor experiences
- Tourism or experience-based venues
- Corporate events or client-facing roles
What you'll do
As a Guest Experience Host, you will be responsible for welcoming guests and confidently guiding them through a structured Velvoras experience from beginning to end.
You'll:
- Welcome and engage guests
- Present and explain activities to groups
- Guide guests individually when needed
- Manage the flow and timing of each experience
- Read the room and anticipate when guests need assistance
- Maintain a polished, warm and professional atmosphere
- Prepare and reset the experience space
- Handle everyday guest questions and situations confidently and professionally
- Deliver the experience consistently and independently once trained
What we're looking for
You don't need previous perfume-making or candle-making experience.
We're much more interested in whether you can host a room exceptionally well.
You should be:
- Confident speaking in front of groups
- Warm, engaging and naturally personable
- Clear and articulate when giving instructions
- Observant and able to manage several groups at once
- Calm when something doesn't go according to plan
- Comfortable taking ownership of an experience
- Reliable, punctual and well organised
- Able to follow an established experience format consistently
- Attentive to presentation and small details
Experience in events, premium hospitality, guest experience or another highly customer-facing environment is strongly preferred.
About the shifts
This is a casual, event-based position rather than a fixed weekly roster.
Shifts are scheduled around confirmed bookings and may include:
- Public experiences
- Private celebrations
- Corporate events
- Weekend sessions
- Occasional weekday and evening events
A single booking may involve a shorter shift, while days with multiple experiences may provide a longer block of work.
For this reason, the role may particularly suit someone who already works casually or flexibly across events, hospitality, activations or similar industries and is looking to add additional event-based work.
Weekend availability is highly desirable.
Training
Successful applicants will receive paid training in the Velvoras guest experience and the specific processes required to deliver our experiences.
Previous fragrance knowledge is not required.
Our selection process
Because hosting ability is difficult to assess from a résumé alone, shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a brief interview and paid practical hosting assessment.
The practical assessment is designed to assess communication, group facilitation, guest awareness and problem-solving. No fragrance knowledge is required.
To apply
Please send us your résumé together with a short introduction answering these three questions:
1. Tell us about your experience hosting, serving or looking after groups of guests.
2. What do you think makes an experience feel premium rather than simply providing good customer service?
3. What does your usual weekend and weekday/evening availability look like?
