Are you an experienced Disability Support Worker who has a genuine understanding of autism, complex support needs and behaviours of concern?
Do you have the experience, emotional maturity and resilience to provide consistent, high-quality 1:1 support in a high-intensity environment?
Alpine Care Group is looking for an experienced Support Worker to join our team and provide specialist, person-centred support to an autistic participant with complex support needs.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who can confidently apply Positive Behaviour Support strategies, remain calm under pressure and build a trusting, consistent relationship with the participant.
About the Role
You will provide 1:1, high-intensity support to an autistic participant with complex support needs and behaviours of concern.
The successful candidate will play an important role in creating a safe, predictable and supportive environment while promoting the participant's independence, dignity, choice and quality of life.
You will need to be confident working within established Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs) and individual support plans while maintaining a calm, consistent and trauma-informed approach.
About You
This role is suited to an experienced support professional who understands that consistency, patience and trust are essential when supporting a person with complex needs.
You will be someone who:
- Has strong experience supporting autistic individuals with complex needs
- Remains calm and composed in challenging situations
- Is emotionally intelligent, self-aware and empathetic
- Understands the importance of predictable routines and consistency
- Can recognise early signs of escalation and respond appropriately
- Is confident implementing Positive Behaviour Support strategies
- Communicates clearly and respectfully
- Has strong observational and documentation skills
- Can work independently while collaborating effectively with a broader support team
- Understands professional boundaries and participant dignity
- Is reliable, accountable and committed to high-quality support
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Minimum 3 years' direct experience supporting people with autism and complex support needs/behaviours of concern
- Demonstrated experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and Behaviour Support Plans
- Relevant trauma-informed care and behaviour management training
- Demonstrated experience working in high-intensity support environments
- Strong understanding of person-centred and trauma-informed practice
- Ability to remain calm, professional and effective under pressure
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Flexible availability across weekdays, evenings and weekends
- Full working rights in Australia
- Current unrestricted WA Driver's Licence
