Head BartenderPosition Summary
We are seeking an experienced and charismatic Head Bartender to lead our bar team and deliver an exceptional guest experience. The Head Bartender will oversee daily bar operations, maintain high standards of service and presentation, support menu development, manage stock, and train and motivate bartenders.
The ideal candidate has strong cocktail knowledge, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to remain organised and welcoming in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the bar team during service and ensure smooth, efficient operations.
- Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages to a consistently high standard.
- Create and update cocktail menus in collaboration with management.
- Train, coach, and mentor bartenders and bar support staff.
- Set service standards and ensure team members follow recipes, presentation guidelines, and responsible service requirements.
- Monitor stock levels, place orders, receive deliveries, and conduct regular inventory checks.
- Minimise waste, control beverage costs, and maintain accurate stock records.
- Ensure the bar is clean, organised, fully stocked, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Handle guest enquiries, special requests, and complaints professionally.
- Support staff scheduling and assist with recruitment and performance management.
- Build positive relationships with suppliers and stay informed about beverage trends and new products.
- Work closely with kitchen, floor, and management teams to provide a seamless guest experience.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as a Head Bartender, Bar Supervisor, or senior bartender.
- Strong knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, spirits, wine, and beer.
- Proven leadership, training, and team-management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer-service abilities.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with stock management, ordering, and cost control.
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently during busy services.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Current responsible service of alcohol certification, where required.
