ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking Disability Support Workers to join our growing team in Western Sydney. You will provide support for people with a disability to live independently and maintain their best possible social wellbeing. You will support our customers to achieve their personal goals and to live satisfying lives in our community.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:
· Supporting our customers to achieve their goals for example, improving daily living skills through capacity building (e.g., creating a consistent and stable routine, encouraging completion of daily living tasks, motivating participants to partake in hobbies and physical activity, etc.)
· Assisting our customers with daily personal care tasks such as showering, grooming, dressing, feeding, meal preparation, etc.
· Transporting customers to & from services or activities (e.g., appointments, grocery shopping, etc.)
· Promoting independent decision making
· Work within the principles of person-centred practice
ABOUT YOU
You are a passionate and dedicated individual who is looking to make a difference in the community. As a people person, you pride yourself on exceptional customer service whilst ensuring customers achieve their goals and aspirations.
Requirements:
· Ability to build rapport with a diverse range of customers
· Experience working with adults with complex support needs and mental health (including intellectual disability, depression, etc.)
· Driven, energetic, committed & patient
· Must be compassionate
· Strong communication skills
· Willingness to learn
· Flexibility with shifts
· Ongoing weekly permanent shifts available Monday & Friday (10am-2pm)
WHAT YOU NEED:
· Current driver's licence and vehicle (essential)
· Working With Children Check (or willing to obtain)
· NDIS Worker Screen (or ability to obtain one is essential)
· NDIS Module 1 (or willing to obtain)
· National Police Check (or willing to obtain)
· Qualifications in Education (highly regarded)
