Shape the future of cyber security architecture in a highly regulated, purpose-driven organisation.
At Avant, we are investing in our technology and cyber security capabilities to support our members and protect the critical systems and data that underpin their experience. We are looking for an experienced Security Solution Architect to join our Architecture team and play a key role in defining and evolving our cyber security landscape.
Reporting to the Enterprise Security Architect, you'll be responsible for translating enterprise security strategy into practical, implementable architectures, standards and roadmaps that strengthen our security posture and enable business transformation.
Why Join Avant?
This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of strategy, architecture and cyber defence, influencing security decisions across a complex technology environment. You'll collaborate with architects, engineering teams, cyber defence specialists and senior stakeholders to shape secure outcomes that support the business today while preparing for tomorrow's threats.
This is more than a traditional architecture role. You will influence enterprise-wide security strategy, help shape the future state of security capabilities, and play a key role in protecting an organisation that supports Australia's healthcare community.
If you're passionate about modern cyber security architecture, Zero Trust principles and building secure solutions that enable business innovation, we'd love to hear from you.
Key accountabilities:
- Develop and maintain security domain architectures, capability roadmaps, reference architectures and technical standards.
- Translate security strategy, policies and principles into practical security requirements, patterns and design guardrails.
- Lead security solution risk assessments, threat modelling activities and architecture design reviews.
- Provide expert security architecture guidance across cloud, identity, network, infrastructure, application and data security domains.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and architecture options to ensure alignment with Avant's target state and strategic objectives.
- Partner closely with Security Engineering and Cyber Defence teams to ensure effective implementation of security controls.
- Analyse cyber threats, vulnerabilities, incidents and control effectiveness to drive architectural improvements and strategic security investments.
- Contribute to architecture governance and support decision-making for complex security initiatives and technology transformations.
Skills and experience required:
- Extensive experience as a Security Architect or Security Solution Architect within complex enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise across multiple security domains including: Cloud Security, Identity & Access Management, Zero Trust & Network Security, Application Security, Infrastructure Security, SIEM and Security Monitoring.
- Deep knowledge of Azure, Microsoft 365 Security, data protection and modern cyber security frameworks.
- Proven experience conducting threat modelling, security risk assessments and security architecture reviews.
- Ability to translate complex security concepts into business-focused recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience developing target-state architectures, capability roadmaps, standards and reusable security patterns.
- Exposure to APRA-regulated, financial services or insurance environments will be highly regarded.
