Salary: $45–$48 per hour (depending on experience) + superannuation + salary packaging benefits

Role Overview
The Cancer Health Promotion Officer leads the planning, delivery, and evaluation of culturally safe cancer health promotion initiatives for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This role focuses on increasing cancer awareness, improving screening participation, and supporting positive behaviour change through co-designed, locally relevant education and engagement activities.
Working closely with Community, internal teams, and mainstream cancer services, this role plays a key part in reducing health inequities and improving cancer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate cancer health promotion and screening awareness programs
- Host holistic cancer screening and community engagement events
- Develop culturally tailored cancer education and promotional resources
- Promote cancer awareness days, weeks, and months within Community
- Build and maintain partnerships with mainstream cancer services and organisations
- Encourage participation in cancer screening programs through targeted campaigns
- Collect, analyse, and report on program data to support continuous quality improvement
- Contribute to improved cancer data recording and patient management systems
- Ensure programs meet legislative, policy, and funding requirements
- Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in primary health care, community health, or health promotion
- Demonstrated experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating health promotion programs
- Strong communication, organisation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Demonstrated ability to deliver services in a culturally safe and respectful manner
- Ability to work collaboratively with Community, internal teams, and external partners
Desirable:
- Experience in cancer prevention, screening, or related health programs
- Community engagement experience and/or stakeholder engagement capability
- Experience co-designing programs and resources with Aboriginal communities
Qualifications & Screening Requirements
- Qualifications in a relevant discipline such as public health, public policy, Aboriginal Health Worker/Practitioner, nursing, community development, health promotion and engagement, or equivalent experience
Other Requirements
- Current Driver’s License (role may require travel throughout Victoria and occasional interstate travel)
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current National Police Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
