Chef (All Levels)
Position Title: Chef (Commis Chef, Demi Chef, Chef de Partie, Sous Chef)
Location: Zenobia – Authentic Lebanese Restaurant, Barangaroo, Sydney
About the Role
We are seeking passionate and experienced chefs to join our opening team. Successful candidates will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining food safety standards, supporting kitchen operations, and delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present menu items according to recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure consistency, quality, and portion control for all dishes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic work environment.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and WHS requirements at all times.
- Assist with daily mise en place and stock preparation.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, and storage procedures.
- Minimize food wastage and control kitchen costs.
- Receive, check, and properly store deliveries.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods.
- Collaborate with front-of-house and kitchen team members.
- Assist with menu development and seasonal specials where required.
- Train and support junior kitchen staff.
- Ensure equipment is used and maintained correctly.
- Participate in stocktakes and inventory control.
Position-Specific DutiesCommis Chef
- Assist senior chefs with food preparation.
- Learn recipes, cooking techniques, and kitchen procedures.
- Maintain workstation cleanliness and organization.
Demi Chef
- Manage assigned section under supervision.
- Prepare ingredients and dishes independently.
- Support training of junior staff.
Chef de Partie
- Take full responsibility for a designated kitchen section.
- Supervise junior team members.
- Ensure quality and consistency within the section.
Sous Chef
- Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations.
- Supervise kitchen staff and service execution.
- Support rostering, ordering, and inventory management.
- Lead the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
Skills and Qualifications
- Relevant culinary qualifications preferred.
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques.
- Understanding of food safety and HACCP principles.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexible availability including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
Desirable (Highly Regarded)
Candidates with experience or knowledge of Lebanese cuisine will be highly regarded, including:
- Preparation of traditional Lebanese mezze.
- Experience with charcoal grilling and kebabs.
- Knowledge of dishes such as hummus, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, fattoush, kibbeh, shawarma, kafta, shish tawook, and manakish.
- Understanding of Middle Eastern spices, herbs, and flavour profiles.
- Experience making Lebanese breads and traditional desserts.
- Familiarity with authentic Lebanese cooking techniques and presentation styles.

Pay: $56,777.96 – $85,750.95 per year
