Redmond Hotels Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Duty Manager (Hotel) to oversee the day-to-day operations of The Coast Hotel, a prominent hospitality venue in central Coffs Harbour.
More than a traditional pub, The Coast Hotel is a busy dining, bar, functions and entertainment destination. The venue serves lunch and dinner seven days a week, and hosts live music, weekly promotions, private functions and major events.
The successful candidate will provide hands-on operational leadership, supervise and develop the venue team, maintain high standards of service and presentation, manage budgets and operating costs, and ensure compliance with liquor licensing, workplace safety and other regulatory requirements. This position requires a capable hospitality professional who can manage competing priorities while supporting the venue’s ongoing commercial performance and reputation.
This full-time position offers an annual salary of AUD 75K - 85K plus superannuation, negotiable based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
If you have proven venue management experience, strong commercial judgement and the ability to lead a fast-paced hospitality operation, we invite you to apply.
Scope of the role:
- Oversee the bar, restaurant, gaming, functions and entertainment areas, opening and closing the venue, reconciling takings, and ensuring service runs smoothly across the day's trading periods.
- Coordinate bar, restaurant and function activities on a day-to-day basis, translating the venue's broader business development, marketing and community-engagement initiatives into on-the-floor execution.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with liquor licensing, gaming regulations, and work health and safety requirements during each shift, escalating incidents or breaches as they arise.
- Control rostered budgets, purchasing and point-of-sale/financial reconciliation to keep resources used efficiently across each shift.
- Monitor guest and patron satisfaction in real time, resolving complaints and service issues on the spot and feeding recurring themes back into ongoing service improvements.
- Supervise, coach and roster front-of-house, bar and function staff on shift, stepping in on service delivery to maintain standards during peak periods.
- Act as the venue's point of contact during a shift for staff, suppliers, contractors, patrons and the local community, referring matters outside their authority to senior management.
- Oversee the functionality, presentation and upkeep of the bar, restaurant, gaming and function spaces, and coordinate maintenance requests to minimise disruption to trade.
- Assist patrons with local knowledge of Coffs Harbour — beaches, national parks and attractions — and help arrange transport (taxis, rideshare) for guests attending events or functions.
- Monitor stock levels and liaise with the accounts department, Head Chef and kitchen/bar teams to ensure the venue remains adequately stocked for trade.
- Take bookings for and coordinate private functions, entertainment nights (live music, DJs, trivia) and other scheduled events, ensuring the venue is set up and staffed accordingly.
To be considered for this role, you should:
- Be willing to relocate to a surrounding location in regional NSW.
- Be available for weekend shifts and split shifts.
- Preferably hold a Certificate III / IV or Diploma in Hotel Management.
- Have at least one year of full-time managerial experience in hospitality.
- Able to work well and lead the team
- Have exceptional interpersonal skills.
