We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Cytogenetics Scientist to join our specialist laboratory team at Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology (DHM) in Macquarie Park, NSW.
In this role, you will apply your expertise in chromosome analysis and cytogenetic techniques to investigate constitutional chromosomal abnormalities using advanced laboratory technologies and analytical software.
Working within a collaborative and quality-focused environment, you will perform complex, high-resolution cytogenetic analyses, interpret results, and contribute to the delivery of accurate and timely diagnostic reports. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to further develop their karyotyping expertise while contributing to high-quality patient care.
- Conduct constitutional chromosome analysis and interpretation of cytogenetic findings within established turnaround times.
- Operate and maintain specialised laboratory equipment and analytical software.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory quality systems, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with troubleshooting technical issues and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate effectively with scientific, medical, and laboratory colleagues.
- Participate in training, mentoring, and knowledge sharing within the team where appropriate.
To be successful in this role, you should be an experienced Cytogenetics Scientist with strong technical expertise, exceptional analytical skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality diagnostic services. You have a meticulous approach to chromosome analysis and thrive in a collaborative laboratory environment.
- Recognised tertiary qualification in Genetics, Biomedical Science, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific discipline. With demonstrated experience working in a diagnostic cytogenetics laboratory.
- Proven expertise in chromosome analysis, including interpretation of constitutional chromosomal abnormalities. Plus demonstrated experience in complex cases and reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and accuracy
- Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities effectively, excellent organisational skills and commitment to quality and accuracy.
