Senior Reliability Engineer / Project Manager – Fixed Plant
Location: Perth, Western Australia (FIFO / Site Travel Required)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Reliability Engineer / Project Manager with a strong background in Fixed Plant Mining Operations to lead reliability improvement initiatives, sustaining capital projects, and maintenance strategy development across mining assets.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in asset reliability, fixed plant maintenance, project delivery, and stakeholder management within the Australian mining industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead reliability engineering and fixed plant improvement projects across mining operations.
- Develop and optimise maintenance strategies using RCM, RCA, FMEA/FMECA, Defect Elimination, Asset Criticality Analysis, and Risk-Based Maintenance.
- Manage sustaining capital, remediation, brownfield, and reliability improvement projects from concept through execution and handover.
- Deliver engineering projects ranging from AUD $1M to $20M+ while ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
- Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and implement corrective actions to improve plant availability and reliability.
- Drive maintenance optimisation initiatives to reduce equipment downtime and maintenance costs.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams including engineering, maintenance, operations, contractors, and vendors.
- Develop business cases, feasibility studies, scope documents, cost estimates, and capital justifications.
- Coordinate shutdown activities and live plant project execution.
- Analyse equipment performance using CMMS data, reliability reports, and condition monitoring results.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across reliability and maintenance teams.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and asset management standards.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of Reliability Engineering experience within the Australian Mining Industry.
- Strong experience in Fixed Plant operations.
- Proven experience delivering reliability improvement and sustaining capital projects.
- Experience managing engineering projects valued between AUD $1M – $20M+.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM)
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA / RCFA)
- FMEA / FMECA
- Asset Criticality
- Defect Elimination
- Maintenance Strategy Optimisation
- Experience leading shutdowns and brownfield projects.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience managing contractors and multidisciplinary teams.

- Able to influence stakeholders across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Executive teams.
- Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or unrestricted Australian working rights.
Pay: $300,000.00 – $400,000.00 per year
Experience:
- Reliability Engineering within Mining or Heavy Industry.: 5 years (Required)
- Fixed Plant: 5 years (Preferred)
- Conveyors, materials handling, chutes, transfer stations: 5 years (Preferred)
- RCA, asset reliability, and maintenance strategies.: 5 years (Preferred)
- Engineering project management: 5 years (Preferred)
