Spinifex State College is a three campus educational facility. Our Junior Campus caters to years 7-9, Senior Campus years 10-12 and the Residential Campus houses all boarding students.

The Role:
You will be responsible for the development of activities and risk assessments that support high school students in a boarding facility in North West Queensland. Current First Aid training, the possession of a Working with Children Blue Card, a car licence, and a willingness to obtain a LHR bus licence are preferred. This is a 24hr, seven day facility with staff rostered on a variety of shifts throughout the week and the weekend. It is a rewarding career path and one to consider if you enjoy working with young people.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Meet and liaise with Senior SSW to devise, develop and deliver recreational activities in the morning, afternoon, night and on weekends during school terms.
Contribute to monitoring the health and welfare of Boarding students. Provide activities which will contribute to their health and well-being.
Ensure all activities have been approved and the Risk Assessments have been completed to standards required by Education Queensland.
Deliver activities in compliance with WH&S ensuring students are fully supervised when participating in all activities both on land in and in water.
Support the school calendar of events such as the swimming carnival, athletics day or training for representative sports. (North West representation or above)
Encourage students to participate in community sports outside of the Boarding Campus. This includes keeping a data base of student sports participation as well as collecting all necessary paperwork for students to participate such as consent forms, registration and any other forms required.
Responsibility for maintenance and stocktake of equipment used for activities.
Responsibility for the provision, installation and dismantling of equipment for activities when on shift and allocated the activity.
Develop and maintain a register of all training provided for students prior to participating in certain activities such as use of gym equipment, paddleboards, bikes and other such equipment.
Liaise with and support senior Administration staff with culminating events such as Graduation, Awards Night or other associated events.
Develop, maintain and encourage positive relationships with parents, students and other staff.
Engage in other SSW activities assigned by the Senior on shifts.
