As the Head of IT Portfolio, you own the end-to-end delivery of all IT initiatives within your assigned business pillar. You are accountable for the entire lifecycle: from working with the business on early bids and writing business cases, to managing project managers & technical resources during execution, through to ensuring a clean transition to the operational support teams. You will manage resources and resolve day-to-day delivery blockers to get initiatives done on time and on budget.

About the role
You will own the end-to-end delivery of all technology initiatives across your assigned business pillar, and be accountable for the entire lifecycle including:
Strategic Planning & Business Partnership
Partnering with business leaders to align technology initiatives with strategic goals and share their IT strategy.
Developing and maintaining rolling technology roadmaps and technology capabilities.
Providing technology advice and driving business value through IT investments.
Portfolio Planning & Initiation
Translating business needs into technology initiatives.
Leading project planning, scoping, and resource allocation.
Supporting business cases, funding approvals, and bid/tender activities including estimates, scope and delivery timelines.
Delivery Leadership & Execution
Overseeing active projects in your pillar and actively monitoring project health and supporting with troubleshooting or operational blockers.
Leading a direct team of Project Managers and technical specialists.
Managing technology vendors and delivery partners and ensuring agreed outcomes are delivered to quality, cost, and schedule expectations.
Transition to Support
Financial, Commercial & Governance Management
Managing multi-stream project budgets, forecasting, and resource planning.
Providing portfolio reporting and stakeholder updates.
Monitoring risks, compliance, and governance requirements in partnership with the PMO.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be an experienced leader in running complex technology projects and enjoy being hands on when required. You will also have:
Proven ability to partner with senior business leaders to shape and influence technology strategy and decisions.
Experience in portfolio governance, demand prioritisation, resource capability planning and reporting.
Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing project and technical teams.
Experience working in complex operational field-based environments such as utilities, infrastructure or telecommunications would be highly desirable.
Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline would be highly desirable.
PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent project management certification would be highly desirable.
You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
