Hitech Marine NSW is seeking a highly skilled and fully qualified Marine Technician to join our service team. As a Mercury dealership servicing a wide range of marine vessels and engine systems, we require a technician capable of working across all major outboard and sterndrive platforms, with strong diagnostic capability and attention to detail.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a broad range of marine propulsion systems and vessel components. This includes, but is not limited to, Mercury outboards, MerCruiser sterndrives, and other leading marine engine brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, and repair outboard and inboard engines (with a strong focus on Mercury/MerCruiser systems)
- Perform fault finding and electronic diagnostics using manufacturer tooling and software
- Complete boat fit-ups including rigging, installation, and commissioning of new vessels and repowers
- Carry out routine maintenance, servicing, and warranty repairs to manufacturer standards
- Conduct sea trials and performance testing where required
- Accurately complete job cards, service reports, and warranty documentation
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
- Work collaboratively with service advisors and parts department to ensure efficient workflow
Required Skills & Experience
- Trade qualification as a Marine Mechanic / Marine Technician (essential)
- Proven experience working with outboards and sterndrives (Mercury/MerCruiser preferred)
- Strong diagnostic and electrical troubleshooting capability
- Experience with boat rigging and fit-ups
- Ability to work across multiple brands and engine systems
- Solid understanding of marine mechanical, electrical, and fuel systems
- Current driver’s licence (boat licence advantageous)
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
