Established in 1957, Keppel Bay Sailing Club began with a group of dedicated sailors and volunteers who had a passion for sailing and for the community in which they lived. Today KBSC operates from four venues, The Clubhouse, The Spinnaker, Kracker’s Bar & Grill, and Club Emu Park.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a culinary professional to join the KBSC team. With support from an innovative and welcoming team of hospitality professionals, this role offers the flexibility and scope to bring something truly special to our loyal members and guests.
KBSC has the most picturesque dining locations in the Capricorn Coast, a beautiful seaside destination spanning between Yeppoon and Emu Park that attracts many families and tourists.
About the role: As a Chef, your main responsibilities include:
- Assist with menu ideas and input
- Preparing and cooking food following recipes precisely, while also accommodating dietary requirements or special requests from customers
- Assist kitchen team on cooking procedures
- Ensuring consistent dish quality and presentation
- Maintaining hygiene and safety standards at all time
- Collaborating with team members to solve kitchen issues and conferring with superiors if necessary
- Assist with training staff and building a skilled and cohesive kitchen team
- Staying updated on new cooking techniques, culinary trends, and industry developments
- Using freezing and preservation methods to reduce waste
- Identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity
Qualifications:
Applicant must have one of the following:
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or similar)
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience
Skills
- A natural, collaborative leader
- Experience managing a full-service, high volume kitchen, catering to a busy bistro and functions and convention events
- Excellent command of cost controls
- A genuine flair for creative modern Australian cuisine
