The Aboriginal Procurement team provides a clear policy leadership structure dedicated to driving economic and social outcomes for Aboriginal businesses through strong policy stewardship and authentic engagement.
This role sits within an Aboriginal-led policy team responsible for the stewardship of Aboriginal procurement across NSW Government. The team operates within a structured model that distinguishes policy intent, policy design and delivery, ensuring clarity of roles and accountability across reform.
The Senior Policy Officer contributes to the delivery of reform by translating policy intent into structured, practical application. Working within a disciplined policy environment, the role supports implementation through clear guidance, tools and decision-ready materials, aligned to strategic direction.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful system-level reform within an environment that maintains clear separation between policy leadership, policy design and delivery.

Your day as a Senior Policy Officer
The Senior Policy Officer contributes to the delivery of policy reform by supporting the implementation of initiatives aligned to Government priorities. The role operates within a clear policy stewardship function, ensuring delivery remains consistent with policy intent and strategic direction.
You will be joining an Aboriginal-led team that acts as a policy steward, shaping and maintaining the integrity of reform while supporting implementation across government. Within this structured model, the role focuses on translating policy intent into practical, structured outputs, including guidance materials, tools and decision-ready advice that support consistent application across agencies.

Achieve success as a Senior Policy Officer
To succeed in this role, you will bring the capability to operate within a structured policy environment, contributing to the delivery of reform through disciplined execution and clear alignment to policy intent.
You will be able to apply structured thinking to translate strategic policy direction into practical, usable outputs, including guidance materials, tools and decision-ready advice. You will support implementation through the application of frameworks and coordination across agencies, ensuring delivery remains consistent with strategic direction.
This role requires the ability to work within a defined policy leadership structure, maintaining alignment between policy intent and implementation in a complex, whole-of-government reform environment. You will demonstrate sound judgement in balancing delivery of practical outputs with evolving policy direction.
We are seeking candidates with experience supporting the delivery of complex policy or reform initiatives, with a strong focus on producing high-quality, structured and decision-ready materials. You will demonstrate initiative, adaptability and sound problem-solving capability, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of a high-performing team.
Cultural capability is essential. You will demonstrate a culturally inclusive approach and demonstrated ability to work effectively with Aboriginal communities, recognising the value of cultural knowledge and lived experience in shaping policy and delivery.
