The Learning Specialist Mathematics and Numeracy Leader is part of the School Improvement Team and works to improve learning outcomes of students in Mathematics and Numeracy. The Learning Specialist Mathematics and Numeracy Leader is responsible for the implementation of the strategies that align with the School Strategic Plan to improve mathematics. They will develop resources and provide professional learning to all staff to achieve excellence and equity in mathematics and numeracy outcomes for all students at Upwey High School. They will oversee the provision and maintenance of resources and engage in ongoing review of the program to enhance student learning growth. They will lead the team of Mathematics staff as the Domain Leader and provide classroom coaching and support to teachers.
The responsibilities of a Learning Specialist Mathematics and Numeracy include, but is not limited to the following:
Leading the Upwey High School Numeracy Action Plan
Providing leadership, as the Domain Leader, to the Mathematic staff
Modelling, coaching and co-teaching in classrooms that is focused on improving teaching and learning numeracy, consistent with the VTLM 2.0
Leading the analysis of whole-school and cohort assessment data for numeracy and support teachers and teams to analyse the data for improved practice
Playing a key role in the provision of Professional Learning that supports the goals of the Numeracy Action Plan and the School Strategic Plan
Overseeing and leading the `Numeracy Enrichment Program' and co-ordinating the staff who work in the program
Coordinating targeted numeracy testing across cohorts and the school

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class:
- The person must have provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching; and
- if the person completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on or after 1 January 2024, they must demonstrate that they have satisfactorily completed a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education program that has been accredited by an Australian State or Territory Teacher Regulatory Authority as satisfying the requirements of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership 'Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia: Standards and Procedures'; and
- a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program after 1 July 2016 must also demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements (this condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian ITE program completed by the person).
