About us:
Rockhampton Hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a modern, purpose-built service that opened in 2016 and is recognised as a Level 5 Adult and Level 4 Paediatric ICU under the Clinical Services Capability Framework V3.2. The unit currently operates 8 beds, with the ability to expand to 10 beds as required and supported by staffing availability.
As the sole ICU within Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service, the department provides advanced critical care to some of the region's most complex and critically unwell patients. Services include comprehensive multisystem intensive care, advanced ventilation support, renal replacement therapy, and invasive cardiovascular monitoring, with the capability to manage patients requiring prolonged intensive care. Patients are transferred to higher-level facilities only when specialised subspecialty services are required.
About the role:
Deliver advanced, patient-centred intensive care nursing, coordinating care across the patient journey and managing complex clinical situations.
Apply expert intensive care knowledge and evidence-based practice to support safe, high-quality outcomes for critically ill patients.
Provide clinical leadership, guidance and support to nursing staff and multidisciplinary team members, fostering a culture of excellence.
Lead acute patient assessments, care planning, complex case management, clinical decision-making and workload coordination within the ICU.
Drive education, quality improvement and portfolio responsibilities while maintaining professional development and supporting patients, families and colleagues through formal and informal education.
About you:
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and a valid annual practising certificate (mandatory), with a Postgraduate Certificate in Critical Care/Intensive Care Nursing highly regarded.
Extensive intensive care experience, including a minimum of four years in an ICU setting and experience caring for paediatric patients.
Expert knowledge of contemporary intensive care nursing practice, with advanced clinical skills in the assessment and management of critically ill patients.
Proven leadership and people management capabilities, including communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, clinical decision-making and effective multidisciplinary team collaboration.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $139,252 p.a. is comprised of:
An hourly rate between $57.48 - $61.55 p.h.
