Mobility Access Modifications (MAM) is looking for an experienced SketchUp Contractor to join us for a focused four-week project. This isn't a role where you'll be handed completed drawings and asked to make them look pretty. You'll work directly with our Major Modifications trade team, observe how work is actually completed onsite, ask the right questions, and turn that knowledge into clear, step-by-step SketchUp documentation that can be used to train future trades and labourers.
The initial project will focus on areas including ramps and steps, selected bathroom modifications and concrete paths.What You'll Be DoingWorking closely with our Major Mods Lead Trade, you'll:
- Spend time onsite with experienced trades to understand how nominated works are completed from start to finish.
- Capture the sequence of works, site preparation, labour requirements, materials, tools, measurements and important quality checks.
- Create clear SketchUp models, scenes and step-by-step visual sequences.
- Turn practical trade knowledge into documentation that is simple enough for a new trade or labourer to follow.
- Add relevant dimensions, materials, components, annotations and call-outs.
- Develop reusable SketchUp models and templates where appropriate.
- Work with the team to identify gaps or areas requiring further clarification.
- Make updates quickly following feedback from our Lead Trade and project stakeholders.
- Help create logical training sequences and supporting voiceover notes/scripts.
- Maintain organised files, naming conventions and version control.
- Work to an agreed four-week timeline with clearly defined weekly deliverables.
What We're Looking For
You'll need strong practical SketchUp capability and, importantly, the ability to understand how something is actually built.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Strong proficiency in SketchUp, including modelling, scenes, components, annotations and presentation.
- Experience in architectural drafting, construction documentation, 3D modelling, shop drawings or trade documentation.
- The ability to translate verbal instructions and onsite observations into clear visual documentation.
- Confidence working directly with trades and asking questions rather than making assumptions.
- Good understanding of construction sequencing and practical site considerations.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work quickly and independently within a short project timeframe.
- A practical, straightforward communication style.
- ABN and access to suitable SketchUp software and equipment.
Nice to Have
Experience in any of the following would be highly regarded:
- Residential construction or home modifications
- Ramps and stairs
- Bathroom modifications
- Concrete works
- Accessibility modifications
- Trade training material or work instructions
- SketchUp animations or walkthroughs
- Voiceover-supported training content
The Contract
- 4-week ABN contract
- $40–$50 per hour + GST, depending on experience
- Based from 49 Quinn Street, Preston, with attendance at Melbourne project sites as required
- Reporting day-to-day to our Major Modifications Lead Trade
- Clear project scope, timeline and agreed deliverables
Pay: $40.00 – $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38.0 per week
