You’re a leader who brings a positive and ‘can do’ attitude with you every day and motivates your team to do the same.
You want broad scope and collaboration, mixed with autonomy and impact.
In this role, you'll:
Lead the day-to-day management and close-out of operational defects across the Sydney Metro network, ensuring issues are assessed, prioritised and resolved safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual obligations and operational requirements. Working across multiple workstreams, you'll play a critical role in maintaining safe, reliable and high-performing infrastructure that supports exceptional customer outcomes.
You'll work closely with operators, contractors, delivery partners and internal stakeholders to drive outcomes and remove barriers to defect resolution. This is a highly collaborative role that requires strong stakeholder engagement, influencing skills and the ability to bring together diverse perspectives to solve complex operational and technical challenges. Every day offers something different, providing exposure to a broad range of engineering disciplines, asset types and business priorities.
Reporting to senior leaders and regularly engaging with executive stakeholders, you'll provide clear oversight of risks, progress and key issues, ensuring timely decision-making and accountability across the network. In doing so, you'll contribute directly to protecting public investment, improving asset performance and supporting the ongoing success of one of Australia's most significant transport systems.
This is a fixed term full time role until 30th January 2031.

About you
You are an experienced leader with strong stakeholder management and contractor engagement skills, who enjoys solving problems, making informed decisions and driving outcomes in complex operational environments. Whether your experience comes from rail, transport, infrastructure or another asset-intensive industry, you bring a collaborative approach and the ability to influence outcomes through trusted relationships and sound judgement.
You have experience leading teams, managing contractors and working across multidisciplinary environments where competing priorities and changing demands are the norm. With strong commercial awareness and an understanding of engineering or infrastructure operations, you're comfortable reviewing technical information, navigating contractual considerations and balancing risk, performance and business outcomes.
Most importantly, you're a proactive and solutions-focused leader who takes ownership, communicates effectively and enjoys working with others to achieve shared goals. You're motivated by the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the safety, reliability and performance of critical infrastructure while developing your capability across operational leadership, contract management, governance, risk and executive engagement.
