Our Outdoor Aquatic Facilities are preparing for the upcoming season and are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Learn to Swim Instructors to support a safe and engaging aquatic environment for our community.
Join our team for the 2026/2027 pool season and play an important role in delivering structured swimming lessons that build water confidence, develop lifesaving skills, and promote water safety.
We have casual opportunities available across both Cessnock and Branxton Pools.
In this role, you’ll deliver Council facilitated Learn to Swim programs in line with Australian Swimming, Austswim and Royal Life Saving Swim & Survive frameworks. You’ll plan and deliver engaging lesson programs that support learners of all ages and abilities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver structured swimming lessons in line with national Learn to Swim and water safety programs
- Create a safe and supportive learning environment where participants can build confidence, develop skills and enjoy their swimming journey.
- Plan lesson content and prepare sessions prior to delivery
- Support the consistent delivery of Council aquatic programs and water safety frameworks
- Work with small groups of children and/or adults to build swimming confidence and skills
- Promote water safety awareness in a positive and supportive learning environment
Essential requirements:
- A nationally recognised Learn to Swim qualification (eg AUSTSWIM or Equivalent).
- A current Working with Children Check clearance number.
- Current Resuscitation certification.
- Previous experience delivering swimming lessons or working in a similar aquatic environment is highly regarded.

$40.26 - $46.62 per hour (inclusive of casual loading)
- Casual seasonal role with opportunities to return for future pool seasons
- Flexible rostered hours, with rosters issued 2 weeks in advance to support planning and availability
- Hands-on experience delivering structured Learn to Swim programs and developing aquatic teaching skills
- 12% superannuation
- Free on-site parking
