Support Near Me is currently seeking a dedicated, reliable, and experienced Male Disability Support Worker to support a participant living in Spring Farm, NSW.
This role is best suited to someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of people with disability and who has experience supporting individuals with complex support needs and behaviours of concern.
About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting the participant to achieve their goals, maintain their wellbeing, and participate in daily activities while ensuring a safe and structured environment.
The participant presents with high-complexity support needs, requiring staff who can remain calm, professional, and proactive when responding to challenging situations and behavioural escalations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the participant with daily living activities and routines.
- Implementing positive behaviour support strategies in accordance with Behaviour Support Plans.
- Managing and responding appropriately to challenging behaviours and behavioural escalations.
- Providing active support and engagement throughout shifts.
- Supporting community access and participation in meaningful activities.
- Assisting with personal care where required.
- Completing accurate shift notes, incident reports, and documentation.
- Working collaboratively with families, allied health professionals, behaviour support practitioners, and management.
- Maintaining participant dignity, choice, and independence while ensuring safety.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience supporting participants with complex behaviours and high-intensity support needs.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during periods of escalation.
- Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing consistent support.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Current Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle.
- Working rights in Australia.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays if required.
Desirable
- Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
- Experience working in SIL (Supported Independent Living) environments.
- Experience supporting participants with psychosocial disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, or behaviours of concern.
- Medication Administration and High-Intensity Support Skills training.
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, or a related field.
