SRJ Industries Pty Ltd, trading as Kazzas Barber Shops / JB’s Barbers QLD, is seeking an experienced Barber / Hairdresser to join our professional barbering team on a full-time basis.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality barbering, hairdressing, grooming and customer service in a busy barbershop environment. This role requires strong technical barbering skills, attention to detail, professional presentation and the ability to deliver excellent client service.
Key duties include:
- Consulting with clients regarding hair care, hairstyles, grooming preferences and suitable barbering services.
- Cutting, trimming and styling hair using scissors, clippers, razors, trimmers and other barbering tools.
- Creating modern and classic hairstyles according to client requests and current grooming trends.
- Shaving, trimming and shaping beards and moustaches, including cutthroat shaving where required.
- Shampooing, conditioning and treating hair and scalp as required.
- Providing men’s grooming services such as beard care, facial grooming and related treatments.
- Draping and preparing clients appropriately before services to ensure comfort, hygiene and professional presentation.
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene by sanitising tools, equipment and workstations at all times.
- Keeping the haircutting station clean, organised and ready for client appointments.
- Managing customer waitlists, processing client payments and maintaining accurate service or sales records where required.
- Providing professional product advice to clients, including suitable hair, beard and scalp care products.
- Promoting and selling products related to hair care, beard care and grooming.
- Monitoring supplies and assisting with ordering barbering products and equipment such as scissors, clips, trimmers, razors and shaving products.
- Providing excellent customer service and maintaining professional client relationships.
- Working efficiently in a fast-paced barbershop environment while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and customer satisfaction.
- Following workplace health, safety and hygiene standards and complying with company policies and procedures.
Required skills, experience and qualifications:
- Relevant barbering or hairdressing qualification, such as Certificate III in Hairdressing, Barbering or equivalent industry qualification.
- At least 1 year previous experience as a Barber, Hairdresser or in a closely related men’s grooming role.
- Applicant with 3 years experience without formal qualification might also be considered.
- Strong experience in scissor cuts, clipper cuts, trimming, shaping and styling hair.
- Demonstrated experience in beard and moustache grooming, including shaving and shaping.
- Experience using professional barbering tools and equipment, including clippers, combs, trimmers, blow-dryers, scissors and razors.
- Ability to consult with clients and recommend suitable hairstyles, grooming services and products based on client needs.
- Strong knowledge of hygiene, sanitisation and safe work practices in a barbershop or salon environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail, creativity and professional presentation.
- Ability to work as part of a team and provide reliable, consistent service.
- Product knowledge in hair care, beard care and men’s grooming products will be highly regarded.
- Experience with additional grooming services such as cutthroat shaving, mini facials, threading or nose, ear and eyebrow waxing will be highly regarded.
- Must be able to work rostered hours, including weekends where required.
This position is suitable for an experienced Barber / Hairdresser who can provide high-quality men’s grooming services, maintain strong customer relationships and contribute positively to a professional barbershop team.
