In this role, you'll:
Play a critical part in ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality services that contribute to Sydney Trains’ operational excellence and customer satisfaction. Operating in a complex and fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for overseeing workforce planning, rostering, and operational assignments, with a strong focus on safety, performance, and service delivery.
As an Area Manager in Rollingstock Presentation you will lead a diverse and geographically dispersed train cleaning team across multiple locations, across our maintenance yards, stabling yards, and station locations. Requiring a hands-on and strategic leadership approach. Your ability to drive key initiatives, foster a high-performing culture, and manage change will be vital to your success in this role.
Cleaning experience is not required, this role is about managing people across multiple locations, the challenges a large dispersed work group has and maintenance of facilities within your delegation/group.
The position is predominantly night shift hours with some variable hours, it is based around night shift work Monday to Friday and demands the ability to respond to dynamic operational requirements while ensuring service continuity and the achievement of key performance indicators. You can be based out of the Mortdale or Mt Victoria hubs. Mortdale covers our City South operations and Mt Victoria the Far West operations.

About you
Your high level written and verbal communications skills will have seen you delivering results within a customer centric business environment – ideally involving the management of cleaning outcomes within a rail or similar industry.
You’re recognised as being a strong problem solver with the proven ability to resolve operational issues that have daily time constraints. This will accompany your interpersonal skills to deal with stakeholders and external contractor groups whilst managing a multifaceted diverse team.
You will need experience managing a large workforce and the challenges present. Ideally you have exposure managing A multi geographical dispersed workforce, including rostering, scheduling and people and culture challenges.
This role requires a resilient, very hands on and present Manager who can pivot on short notice and has experience in a fast paced, challenging work environment.
You will also need to be able to work Night Shift and be on call when required, including weekends.
