About The Opportunity
The Career Medical Officer – Sexual Health Medicine – Primary & Community Health position offers the opportunity to join a dedicated and multidisciplinary Sexual Health team committed to improving the health and wellbeing of diverse communities across South Western Sydney. The role provides high-quality, patient-centred care in a supportive and inclusive clinical environment, working with people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds.
This opportunity includes contributing to innovative HIV prevention programs, including PrEP services, helping to improve access to care for vulnerable and underserved populations. It requires strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and rapport with patients from diverse cultural, linguistic and social backgrounds, attention to detail to ensure accurate clinical assessment, documentation and follow-up, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
The role values a commitment to continuous learning, quality improvement and evidence-based practice, together with professional judgement, adaptability and resilience when managing complex or sensitive clinical presentations. It also provides the opportunity to contribute to health promotion, prevention and reducing barriers to healthcare access.

What You'll be doing
This position is to provide sexual health clinical services at the Liverpool Sexual Health site 3 days per week (0.6. The Sexual Health Career Medical Officer is a key member of the multi-disciplinary team within SWSLHD Sexual Health Services. The role will provide direct clinical care to the full range of clients at Liverpool Sexual Health Clinic including active involvement in the PrEP program for Medicare Ineligible patients Other roles include consultancy with other health care providers, general practice liaison and education, clinical procedure and policy development, administrative tasks as requested, educational, audit and research activities as per the relevant NSW Strategies.Assist in the supervision of a Junior Medical Officer and/or Chapter trainee as required. Assist with medical student education on placement.Assist the Director in maintaining effective partnerships with relevant NGO’s, general practice, community organisations and other key stakeholders.

SWSLHD Primary & Community Health provides a comprehensive range of community-based services designed to improve and maintain the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities across South Western Sydney.
These services include prevention, early intervention, assessment, acute and post-acute treatment, health maintenance, and continuing care. The team supports diverse populations, offering specialised programs for children, young people, older adults, and at-risk communities.
With over 800 dedicated staff, including Aboriginal Health Workers, nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals, the service ensures high-quality care close to where people live.

1. Current Medical Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, with over five years of post-graduation experience
2. Previous experience in sexual health medicine with a wide range of experience
3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with PrEP, PEP and DoxyPEP
4. Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development
5. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and excellent computer skills
6. Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team
7. Evidence of continuing professional development in Sexual Health medicine or closely related field
