Allegiance Heart & Home Care is seeking a reliable, compassionate and experienced Mandarin-speaking Community Support Worker to provide regular in-home and community-based support to an older male client.
The client requires assistance with personal care, daily routines, social support and safe access to the community. Due to the client’s communication needs and cognitive impairment, applicants must be fluent in Mandarin.
This is an ongoing weekday position suitable for a support worker who can commit consistently to the scheduled shifts.
Your duties may include:

Assisting with showering, dressing, grooming and personal hygiene
- Providing prompting and supervision with daily personal care routines
- Supporting the client to maintain dignity, independence and choice
- Providing medication reminders in accordance with the care plan
- Preparing light meals and encouraging regular food and fluid intake
- Accompanying the client to local shops, appointments and community activities
- Providing safe transport where required
- Supporting the client during walks and community outings
- Providing companionship, social engagement and emotional support
- Monitoring the client’s wellbeing and reporting any concerns
- Completing accurate progress notes after each shift
- Following the client’s support plan, risk management strategies and organisational policies
- Communicating professionally with the client’s family and care management team
Applicants must:

Speak Mandarin fluently
- Have experience providing personal care
- Have experience supporting older people or individuals with cognitive impairment
- Be available Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 11:00 am
- Be reliable and able to commit to ongoing regular shifts
- Hold a Certificate III in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability or a related qualification
- Hold a current First Aid and CPR certificate
- Have a current National Police Check
- Have the legal right to work in Australia
- Have a current Australian driver’s licence
- Have access to a reliable, registered and insured vehicle
- Have a smartphone and be able to complete electronic progress notes
- Demonstrate patience, professionalism and respect for client privacy
Experience in the following areas will be highly regarded:

Dementia or cognitive impairment support
- Community access and social support
- Medication prompting
- Meal preparation
- Continence support
- Supporting clients who may become confused or disorientated in the community
- Working with culturally and linguistically diverse older people
