Finch Restorations has been restoring and preserving significant vehicles since 1965. As Australia’s oldest vehicle restoration business, we work on vehicles ranging from early motoring history through to modern classics.
We are expanding at our new Hindmarsh flagship site and are seeking a Motor Trimmer who values craftsmanship, careful finishing, traditional skills, and the detail required to restore classic vehicle interiors properly.

This role will be based at our new Hindmarsh workshop, minutes from the Adelaide CBD.

This is a hands-on, workshop-based position at Hindmarsh. Typical duties include:
- Cutting, sewing, fitting, and finishing leather, vinyl, canvas, carpet, fabric, underlay, and related trim materials.
- Restoring, repairing, and rebuilding seats, carpets, door trims, headlinings, interior panels, soft tops, tonneaus, and related components.
- Pattern making, measuring, marking, cutting, stitching, shaping, gluing, fastening, and final fitting.
- Using industrial sewing machines, hand tools, adhesives, fasteners, and trimming equipment.
- Supporting restoration, retrim, and interior refit work across classic cars, heritage trucks, motorcycles, and specialist vehicles.
- Working with other trades across restoration, mechanical, body, fabrication, and finishing stages.
- Documenting work to a professional standard.
- Trade qualification in automotive trimming, marine trimming, upholstery, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with motor trimming, upholstery, leatherwork, canvas work, soft tops, or related craft work will be highly regarded.
- Classic, vintage, heritage, motorcycle, truck, marine, aviation, furniture, or specialist upholstery experience may be relevant.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work carefully, patiently, and practically on varied trim and interior restoration tasks.
- Australian work rights, including Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or valid visa with permission to work in Australia.
- Takes pride in neat stitching, careful fitting, and high-quality finishing.
- Enjoys varied work and unusual restoration challenges.
- Can think through unfamiliar trim problems and develop practical solutions.
- Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team.
- Has a practical, positive, can-do attitude.
Wages for this role are expected to range from $35 to $50 per hour, commensurate with skills and experience.
