We are seeking multiple experienced Fitters (General) to join our workshop team. This position suits a trade-qualified person who enjoys a varied role involving equipment maintenance, machinery repairs and workshop fabrication.
About the Role
As a valued member of our workshop, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and assembling a wide variety of mechanical equipment and machinery while ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical faults and determine suitable repair methods.
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and overhaul of industrial and heavy mechanical equipment.
- Assemble, fit and install mechanical components and equipment.
- Replace worn or damaged components using appropriate workshop equipment and measuring instruments.
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, service manuals and technical documentation.
- Conduct testing and inspections to ensure equipment is operating correctly before release.
- Assist with fabrication, modification and refurbishment projects when required.
- Maintain accurate service records and complete required documentation.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised work environment.
- Work collaboratively with workshop personnel to meet customer deadlines.
Essential Requirements
- Australian recognised Certificate III Fitter (General), (or equivalent recognised qualification).
- Minimum three years' post-trade experience in mechanical fitting, industrial maintenance or heavy equipment repairs.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and manufacturer specifications.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment and workshop tools.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working on construction, mining or industrial machinery.
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems experience.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain).
- Australian Driver Licence (or willingness to obtain).
