An exceptional opportunity exists for an experienced hospitality leader to join the leadership team at Daydream Island Resort as our Director of Operations.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the operational leadership of the Resort's day-to-day hotel operations, ensuring every guest enjoys an exceptional island experience while delivering outstanding commercial performance.
This is a hands-on role for a passionate leader who thrives in a resort environment, develops high-performing teams, and drives operational excellence.
About the role
As Director of Operations, you will oversee the Resort's operational departments, including, Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Kitchen Operations, Activities & Retail.
Working closely with the General Manager you will provide leadership across the Resort, champion service excellence, optimise financial performance, and foster a positive and engaged workplace culture. You will also act as the General Manager during periods of leave or absence, ensuring the continued successful operation of the Resort.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and inspire department leaders to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
Drive operational excellence across all hotel operations.
Deliver departmental budgets, labour targets and profitability objectives.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
Ensure the highest standards of guest satisfaction, quality and presentation.
Oversee health, safety, compliance and risk management across operational departments.
Analyse business performance and implement strategies to maximise revenue and operational efficiencies.
Develop and mentor leaders while building succession capability throughout the business.

Skills and Experiences:
About you
- Extensive senior leadership experience within an Island resort or remote hospitality experience
- Extensive Food & Beverage management experience
- Strong commercial acumen with proven success managing budgets, labour costs and financial performance
- Demonstrated ability leading multiple operational departments simultaneously
- Experience creating exceptional guest experiences while driving operational efficiencies.
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the business.
- The ability to remain calm, decisive and solutions focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Tertiary qualification in Hospitality, Hotel Management or Business (desirable)
- Working knowledge of Micros, Opera, & Purchase Plus (desirable)
- RMLV Certificate and Approved Managers Licence (desirable)
