About the role:
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-performing team delivering and maintaining critical energy trading and risk management systems. As AI reshapes how energy markets operate, this team is at the forefront — embedding intelligent capabilities into the platforms that power Australia's energy future.
This is a senior leadership role as much as a technical one. You'll work alongside developers, testers, business analysts and a Delivery Manager across 2-3 squads, setting the technical standard and helping grow the capability of those around you.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of sophisticated front-end solutions using Angular, delivering intuitive interfaces for complex energy trading workflows.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of learning, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Coach team members through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing, helping lift capability across the squads.
- Integrate AI-powered features — including LLM-driven insights, intelligent automation, and predictive visualisations — into front-end experiences.
- Collaborate across squads and with business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to optimise performance, streamline processes, and uplift documentation.
Skills & Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a Senior Software Engineer with strong, production-level Angular expertise.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and coach engineers at varying levels of seniority, with a genuine commitment to developing others.
- Proficiency in C# and .NET, with solid understanding of full-stack development and API integration.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), including serverless and modern deployment patterns.
- Practical experience applying AI tools — LLM integration, AI-assisted development (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude), or intelligent front-end features — is highly regarded.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence technical direction and engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
