This position will work alongside crews in the horticultural maintenance of a range of high-profile parks, reserves and streetscapes within the City of Hobart whilst continually monitoring, reviewing and improving horticultural practices and work programs.
Role accountabilities include:
- Support the Coordinator to lead and direct Parks Operations activities, ensuring efficient use of people, equipment, and internal/external resources.
- Oversee and coordinate work programs for the Parks turf team, promoting and implementing contemporary work practices while actively supporting delivery in the field.
- Contribute to the development and planning of annual Parks unit programs and priorities.
- Deliver high-quality customer service and provide advice to ratepayers and community representatives.
- Act in a supervisory capacity when required, providing leadership and guidance to team members.

You hold a Certificate III in Horticulture (or Sports Turf Management) and bring demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience in the maintenance of parks, reserves and streetscapes. You will also possess a current Driver Licence and either hold or are willing to obtain a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
You are an experienced leader with a proven track record in supervising horticultural teams, particularly within high-profile parks or public spaces. Your ability to plan and organise day-to-day operations ensures work programs are delivered efficiently, safely, and within budget.
With highly developed communication skills, you are confident engaging with team members, stakeholders and the community, and can prepare clear, concise reports and documentation to support decision-making.
