Position overview
The Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of turnkey telecommunications and IT projects, ensuring that agreed scope, schedule, budget, quality and customer outcomes are achieved.
The role manages projects from initiation and planning through design, development, implementation, testing, deployment and operational handover. It requires close coordination with customers, internal technical teams, telecommunications carriers, technology vendors and delivery partners.
The Project Manager will provide strong delivery leadership, commercial oversight and stakeholder management while ensuring risks, dependencies and issues are identified and addressed throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
Project planning and delivery
- Manage telecommunications and IT projects throughout the complete delivery lifecycle.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, resource requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts and delivery roadmaps.
- Coordinate technical activities across infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, software, cloud, security, testing and operational teams.
- Manage multiple workstreams, suppliers and dependencies to ensure coordinated delivery.
- Monitor progress against agreed milestones and take corrective action where required.
- Ensure project deliverables are completed, reviewed and accepted in accordance with contractual and customer requirements.
- Manage implementation, migration, cutover and transition-to-support activities.
- Conduct project closure reviews and ensure outstanding actions are appropriately transferred or resolved.
Customer and stakeholder management
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers and key project stakeholders.
- Establish effective governance and communication arrangements.
- Facilitate project kick-offs, workshops, steering committee meetings, status reviews and technical delivery meetings.
- Provide clear and accurate reporting on project status, achievements, risks, issues, dependencies, financial performance and required decisions.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and maintain alignment between business objectives and technical delivery.
- Build trusted relationships with customers, delivery teams, vendors and project partners.
- Escalate material issues promptly and provide practical recommendations for resolution.
Commercial and financial management
- Manage project budgets, costs, revenue, forecasts and financial performance.
- Monitor resource utilisation, supplier expenditure and project profitability.
- Support the preparation and review of proposals, estimates, Statements of Work and delivery schedules.
- Ensure work is performed within the agreed contractual scope.
- Identify scope changes and manage them through formal change-control processes.
- Assess the schedule, resource, commercial and contractual impact of proposed changes.
- Review supplier deliverables, invoices and milestone claims against agreed obligations.
- Support customer invoicing and milestone acceptance processes.
Risk, issue and dependency management
- Establish and maintain project risk, issue, action and dependency registers.
- Identify potential delivery risks early and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Manage technical, commercial, operational and resource-related dependencies.
- Facilitate the resolution of issues involving customers, suppliers and internal delivery teams.
- Ensure decisions, actions and responsibilities are clearly documented and tracked.
- Escalate risks or issues that may affect project objectives, customer commitments or commercial outcomes.
Governance, quality and compliance
- Apply the organisation’s project governance, assurance and reporting standards.
- Ensure appropriate design reviews, testing, acceptance and quality-control activities are completed.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, approvals, decisions and change records.
- Ensure project activities comply with security, safety, regulatory and customer requirements.
- Coordinate readiness assessments and ensure operational teams are prepared to support delivered solutions.
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to the continuous improvement of delivery processes.
- Team and vendor coordination
- Provide direction and leadership to multidisciplinary project teams.
- Clarify roles, responsibilities, priorities and delivery expectations.
- Coordinate internal employees, contractors, telecommunications carriers, vendors and technology partners.
- Promote accountability, collaboration and proactive communication across the project team.
- Monitor supplier performance against contractual commitments, deliverables and schedules.
- Assist with resolving resource constraints and competing delivery priorities.
Qualifications and experience
- Tertiary qualification in project management, information technology, telecommunications, engineering, business or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing telecommunications, infrastructure, software, enterprise IT projects.
- Proven ability to deliver projects against agreed scope, schedule, budget and quality requirements.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams, external suppliers and customer stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of project planning, governance, financial management, risk management and change control.
- Experience developing and managing project plans, budgets, forecasts, status reports and delivery documentation.
- Experience working with Statements of Work, contracts, milestones, acceptance criteria and supplier deliverables.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify the financial implications of delivery decisions.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and resolve complex delivery issues.
Desirable experience
- Experience delivering projects for telecommunications carriers, technology vendors or managed-service providers.
- Understanding of telecommunications and IT infrastructure, including network, software and security environments.
- Experience with systems integration, platform implementation, network deployment, migration or transformation programs.
- Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Knowledge of ITIL service-management and operational-transition practices.
- Experience using project and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence, Monday.com or equivalent platforms.
- Project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, AgilePM or Scrum Master.
- Experience managing fixed-price, time-and-materials and milestone-based commercial engagements.

Pay: $100,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
