The Director, Funding Claims and Assurance leads the end-to-end management of processes to secure Commonwealth reimbursements under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) 2018 and other relevant funding mechanisms. This role is central to ensuring NSW meets compliance requirements and maximises cost recovery, enabling significant Commonwealth contributions that support essential disaster recovery and resilience programs across the State.
As an executive within the NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA), you will drive robust assurance and governance processes, oversee complex claims submissions, and provide expert advice across government. Working collaboratively with Commonwealth stakeholders, NSW agencies and internal teams, you will ensure claims are timely, accurate and fully compliant, while strengthening systems and capability to support ongoing reform and continuous improvement.
In this role you will:
- Lead end-to-end DRFA claims and assurance, ensuring timely, accurate submissions and reporting to maximise Commonwealth funding outcomes
- Establish and drive robust governance, compliance and assurance frameworks to support audit readiness and successful acquittal of funding
- Provide expert advice and build capability across RA and partner agencies to strengthen evidence management and compliance
- Oversee audit, assurance and remediation activities for current and legacy DRFA programs
- Build strong relationships across NSW Government and the Commonwealth to support effective delivery and continuous improvement
About You
You are an experienced financial, assurance or program leader with deep expertise in public sector funding frameworks and compliance. You bring strong analytical capability, attention to detail and the ability to operate effectively in complex, high-stakes environments.
We are looking for an executive who has:
- Demonstrated experience leading complex funding, assurance or compliance functions, ideally within government
- Strong knowledge of DRFA (or equivalent Commonwealth/state funding arrangements), financial management and assurance processes
- Proven ability to manage large-scale, multi-agency processes and deliver outcomes in a complex stakeholder environment
- Experience overseeing audit, assurance and remediation activities, including responding to audit findings
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills
- The ability to balance probity, efficiency and responsiveness in high-pressure settings
- Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, public administration or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
