A little about the role
We are looking for a Social Worker to join our team, based in Eight Mile Plains. This position works across the Foster Care and Intensive Family Support program (Families for Life) as required but will have primary responsibility in one program at a particular time.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Conduct needs/risk/safety assessments and develop time limited intensive intervention plans with families.
- Implement intervention plans and improve the parent/s skills in parenting their children safely by providing, counselling, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, group work and practical support to families.
- Develop and coordinate service network response for individual families to ensure tailored and effective intervention dependent on assessed support needs and identified family goals.
- Participate in negotiation between Key Assets and the Department to ensure that each child or young person is matched with a carer who has the capacity to meet their needs.
- Be present and proactive in supporting placements to avoid placement breakdowns.
- Support and coach foster carers to learn and grow in confidence and ability guided by the Key Assets Practice Framework.
- Coordinate and facilitate foster care support groups, connection events and training activities.
The base salary for this position is $92,286.48 – $99,294.52 per annum + super + vehicle allowance & fuel card + salary packaging options up to $15,900 per annum. This is a full-time, 12-month contract position.
About you
The successful candidate will come with:
- A recognised qualification in Social Work. Other relevant qualifications such as Psychology, Counselling, Behavioural Science will also be considered.
- At least 2 years’ post-qualification experience in Child and Family work.
- A proven track record in working with and or on behalf of children, respecting and maintaining their individuality and promoting their positive development.
- Prio experience undertaking comprehensive assessments to develop, implement, monitor and review service delivery and support plans.
- A comprehensive working knowledge of all relevant legislation pertaining to children’s services and current best practice.
- The ability to communicate simply and effectively, both verbal and written, with a diverse staff group at all levels, recognising potential language barriers and cultural differences.
