We are partnering with a leading Australian retail organisation to appoint a Buyer within their Homewares division. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a high-profile category portfolio and play a key role in driving product strategy, commercial performance and innovation across a large-scale retail business.
This role would suit an experienced Buyer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys balancing creativity with commercial decision-making, and is passionate about developing compelling product ranges that resonate with customers.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of a significant Homewares portfolio, encompassing categories such as tabletop, dining, entertaining and lifestyle products. You will be empowered to shape category strategy, drive sales and margin growth, identify new product opportunities, and build strong supplier partnerships both locally and internationally.
Working closely with Planning, Marketing, Merchandise and Supply Chain teams, you will bring customer-focused product ranges to life while ensuring strong commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute category strategies that align with business objectives and customer trends
- Manage the end-to-end buying process, from range planning through to product launch
- Drive sales, profitability, stock turn and inventory performance across the category
- Analyse market trends, customer insights and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities
- Build and manage strong relationships with local and international suppliers
- Lead commercial negotiations around pricing, terms, product development and exclusivity
- Identify opportunities for private label growth and product innovation
- Work collaboratively with Planning teams to manage forecasts, inventory and promotional activity
- Partner with Marketing to deliver engaging campaigns and category growth initiatives
- Present trade results, category reviews and business cases to senior stakeholders
- Coach and mentor junior team members, supporting their ongoing development
About You:
- Proven experience in a Buyer or Senior Buyer role within a high-volume retail environment
- Experience managing Homewares, Lifestyle, Department Store or related categories
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage sales, margin and inventory performance
- Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
- Experience working with both branded and private-label products
- Strong product development capability
- Confidence presenting trade performance and strategic recommendations to senior leaders
- A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong internal relationships
- Experience mentoring or developing junior team members
- Advanced analytical and commercial decision-making skills
