As our organization continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Finance Manager to oversee our financial operations, strengthen our financial controls and provide reliable financial information to support management decision-making.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who combines strong accounting and financial management skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a growing service-based organisation.
About the Role
As the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day to day financial operations of the business while providing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and analysis to management.
You will oversee accounting processes, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, cash flow, reconciliations and financial compliance, while ensuring that the organization maintains accurate and reliable financial records.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the organization's day-to-day finance and accounting functions.
- Prepare monthly and periodic management accounts, financial reports, profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash-flow reports.
- Develop and monitor organisational budgets, forecasts and financial plans.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and provide management with analysis of significant variances.
- Manage cash-flow requirements and assist management with short-term and long-term financial planning.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing and debtor management.
- Oversee payroll processing, superannuation obligations and payroll reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure timely bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
- Review income, expenditure and financial transactions to ensure accuracy and appropriate allocation.
- Oversee NDIS-related financial processes, including participant invoicing, funding reconciliation, claims and remittances.
- Maintain accurate financial records relating to NDIS service delivery and applicable pricing arrangements.
- Establish, review and maintain appropriate internal financial controls, policies and procedures.
- Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate controls and improvements.
- Prepare financial information and supporting documentation for BAS, taxation, audits and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, financial institutions and other professional advisers where required.
- Analyse operating costs, revenue trends and financial performance to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and profitability.
- Provide financial advice and recommendations to directors and senior management to support business and operational decisions.
- Assist management with evaluating business growth opportunities and their financial implications.
- Ensure financial practices comply with relevant accounting, taxation, regulatory and organisational requirements.
- Supervise and support employees involved in bookkeeping, payroll and accounts administration, where applicable.
- Work collaboratively with operational and management teams to ensure financial processes support effective service delivery.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience in finance, accounting or financial management – mandatory.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Experience preparing and analysing profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash-flow reports.
- Experience with payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Good analytical, financial and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to management and non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero or similar platforms.
