Olivera Italian is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Venue Manager to join our leadership team at our beautiful waterfront restaurant in Manly, Brisbane.
Olivera is entering an exciting new chapter, with a refreshed trattoria-style menu and a focus on generous Italian food, quality drinks and warm, relaxed hospitality.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced restaurant supervisor, duty manager or emerging hospitality leader who is ready to take the next step into venue management.
You will work closely with both owners of the business, receiving direct support, training and mentorship while developing the skills needed to manage a successful hospitality venue.
About the Role
As Assistant Venue Manager, you will assist with the day-to-day operation of Olivera and help ensure every service runs smoothly.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supervising the front-of-house team during service
- Delivering a consistently warm and professional guest experience
- Working closely with both owners on daily operations and venue improvements
- Assisting with staff training, performance and team development
- Helping prepare and manage front-of-house rosters
- Conducting pre-service briefings and allocating team sections
- Managing reservations, table allocations and guest requests
- Responding professionally to customer feedback and resolving service issues
- Monitoring presentation, cleanliness and service standards
- Assisting with stock control, ordering and beverage management
- Supporting functions, events and promotional activities
- Completing opening, closing and cash-handling procedures
- Working collaboratively with the Head Chef and kitchen team
- Helping manage wage costs, productivity and other venue targets
- Stepping into greater responsibility as your experience develops
This is a hands-on role, and you will be actively involved on the restaurant floor during service.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience as a Restaurant Supervisor, Duty Manager, Assistant Manager or similar
- Is ready to progress into a broader venue-management position
- Has strong customer-service and communication skills
- Is confident leading a front-of-house team during busy services
- Is organised, reliable and able to remain calm under pressure
- Leads by example and is comfortable providing direction to staff
- Has a genuine interest in food, wine and hospitality
- Can confidently handle customer concerns and make decisions during service
- Understands the importance of labour control, stock management and venue profitability
- Is comfortable working evenings and weekends
- Wants to build a long-term hospitality-management career
Experience in Italian restaurants, full-service dining, wine service or waterfront venues would be highly regarded.
An approved Queensland RSA is required.
Pay: $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
