What you'll do:
The Bid Manager will be an experienced bidding professional who provides bid leadership and support for capture and bids for the Sovereign Space Programmes team in the Eastern Hemisphere. Activities undertaken include generation of competitive, compliant, and compelling proposals and bid submissions, taking ownership and implementation of the end-to-end company standard bid process, and assembling and managing a cross-functional bid team towards a winning bid spanning SATCOM, PNT, and emergent technologies in the space sector. The person will also lead internal business case generation with active stakeholder management and work with other members of Viasat International Government team and with the wider resources of Viasat.
This is a full-time role based in Sydney but will involve occasional travel to customers or technology sites throughout the world.
The candidate must be eligible to achieve Security Clearance - NV1.
The day-to-day:
Key Responsibilities:

Lead highly cross-functional bid team with SMEs across technical, commercial, finance and legal towards a winning bid/proposal, and negotiations through to contract.

Develop compelling bid content including executive summaries, value propositions, pricing models, technical responses, etc. working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).

Independently lead small to medium bids with oversight, ensuring timely, high-quality proposals and support Sovereign Space Programmes Director in large complex capture and bids.

Develop industry standard (e.g. Shipleys) methods for bids/capture including stakeholder maps, win themes, competitor landscape, compliance matrices, etc. and conduct win workshops, bid reviews, black hats, post-bid analysis and debrief sessions.

Implement company standard bid process and bid discipline throughout the bid lifecycle.

Develop internal business case material and presentations and stakeholder engagement.

Support the Sovereign Space Programmes Director in maintaining pipeline and knowledge of the APAC space market and emerging customer requirements.

Lead and/or support negotiations with potential Customers.
Bid values range from $30M to $500M+
Outcomes in the next 12 months:

High success rate for bids/capture/rebids/contract growth opportunities for the Sovereign Space Programmes (East) team.

Implementation of company standard bid process and bid discipline throughout the bid lifecycle for every bid/opportunity.

Delivery of outputs (e.g. stakeholder maps, competitor landscape, emerging customer trends etc.) to support Director, Sovereign Space Programmes (East) in capture campaigns.
