As a Maintenance Officer, you will specifically:
- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Operate a range of basic tools, equipment and machinery on which training has been provided, and not performed by other specific trade occupations.
- Undertake routine basic maintenance of equipment operated, not subject to trade qualifications.
- Carry out allocated day to day planned maintenance and servicing to the youth detention centre buildings, plant and equipment in accordance with Youth Detention maintenance tasks specifications.
- Work independently to complete allocated daily work orders ensuring deadlines, specifications and quality standards are met from available resources.
- Providing secure escort services to specialist service providers and external maintenance contractors in the provision of periodic service of specialist plant and equipment where required.
- Carry out audits to ensure work performed by external contractors is carried out in a professional and trades person like manner.
- Complete minor administrative duties as part of maintenance activity including use of email, DCOIS and Microsoft software products in updating and completing work orders.
- Assist the Ancillary Services Supervisor in providing reports, estimating and adjusting work schedules in accordance with resources available.
- Assist with a variety of duties that involve maintaining the grounds and gardens as required.
