About the role
Join the Anatomical Pathology team at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and support the delivery of high-quality diagnostic and patient care services. In this varied role, you will provide technical and administrative support across Histology, Cytology, Anatomical Pathology Administration and the Mortuary, helping to ensure the efficient operation of the laboratory.
Working collaboratively with pathologists, scientists, laboratory technicians and administrative staff, you will assist with mortuary services, deceased patient management, laboratory operations and administrative processes. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to quality patient care within one of Victoria's leading public health services.
Key Accountabilities

Manage deceased patient records and laboratory specimen disposal, including chemical and waste management.

Monitor laboratory temperature control and maintain laboratory chemicals and stock.

Handle slide/block file management, including receiving and sending out slides/blocks.

Prepare reports, select slides for meetings, and archive laboratory materials as needed.

Perform additional errands and tasks as requested.
About You
-
Relevant TAFE or tertiary qualification (Certificate, diploma, degree) in health sciences or related fields.

Laboratory experience preferred but not essential, with preference for mortuary duties experience.

Applicants with funeral industry experience are encouraged to apply.

Provide technical and administrative support to the Anatomical Pathology department after training.

Available to participate in staff meetings and education where appropriate.
