The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Design Engineer to join our high-performing project delivery team based in North Sydney. With a strong focus on data centre infrastructure, this role is critical in bridging the gap between design, construction commissioning and ongoing optimisation of building services across technically complex, mission-critical environments.
In this role, you will:
- Design, coordinate, and deliver building services across data centre and other mission-critical projects, ensuring integrated, cost-effective solutions across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire, and controls disciplines.
- Drive the coordination and management of services design throughout Early Contractor Involvement and Design & Construct project stages.
- Evaluate mechanical and electrical designs for data centre-specific requirements such as redundancy (N+1, 2N), cooling load calculations, power densities and failure scenario calculations.
- Support construction teams by providing technical interpretation of designs, installation advice, and resolution of site specific challenges.
- Assist in the preparation of installation sequencing, programming, commissioning strategies, and QA/QC procedures.
- Support commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing, ensuring services are fully functional and meet performance requirements.

Your Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, building services engineering, or a related discipline.
- Approximately 5 years' experience in building services design, coordination, or commissioning, ideally within a general contractor or subcontractor environment.
- Strong understanding of the design and delivery lifecycle for D&C projects, particularly in data centres, critical infrastructure, or large-scale, complex, commercial projects.
- Highly organised, with strong time management skills and the ability to work across multiple, concurrent priorities.
