About the Role
JessiCare is seeking experienced, reliable and compassionate female Disability Support Workers to join the dedicated support team of an adult female participant living in Doreen.
The participant has a physical disability and complex health needs, requiring high-intensity assistance with personal care, mobility, clinical routines and daily living. This is a hands-on role suited to workers who are confident providing complex care, following detailed support plans and working collaboratively with the participant, her family, health professionals and the wider JessiCare team.
While strong practical skills are essential, we are equally looking for someone warm, respectful and dependable who understands that quality support is built on trust, consistency and genuine connection. MUST SPEAK GOOD, CLEAR ENGLISH.
Due to the intimate personal care involved and the participant’s preferences, this position is open to female applicants.
Key Responsibilities
The role may include:
- Providing respectful and person-centred personal care
- Supporting showering, dressing, grooming and continence routines
- Completing hoist transfers and repositioning, including two-worker transfers
- Supporting urinary catheter care and monitoring catheter output
- Monitoring and responding to catheter bypass or other changes
- Assisting with stoma care and monitoring output
- Following dysphagia, mealtime and modified-diet requirements
- Providing medication assistance in accordance with documented procedures
- Supporting pressure care, skin integrity and safe positioning
- Monitoring the participant’s health and escalating concerns promptly
- Completing accurate progress notes, charts and incident documentation
- Assisting with domestic tasks and maintaining a safe, comfortable environment
- Following infection-control practices and participant-specific support plans
- Communicating effectively with family members, health professionals and JessiCare management
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in disability, aged care, nursing or complex community care
- Calm, capable and confident when responding to changes in health
- Comfortable performing intimate personal care with dignity and sensitivity
- Reliable and committed to maintaining consistent shifts
- Observant and able to recognise and report changes in a participant’s condition
- Able to follow clinical instructions, care plans and escalation procedures
- Respectful of the participant’s choices, routines, home and relationships
- A strong communicator and collaborative team member
- Willing to learn participant-specific routines and receive constructive feedback
- Physically capable of safely completing the inherent requirements of the role
Experience with hoists, urinary catheters, stoma care, dysphagia support, medication assistance or other high-intensity supports is highly regarded. Applicants with a nursing or complex-care background are strongly encouraged to apply.
Mandatory Requirements:
Applicants must hold, or be willing to obtain:
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Ageing or a related qualification
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current Working with Children Check, where required
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Current Australian driver’s licence
- Reliable vehicle and comprehensive motor vehicle insurance
- Evidence of rights to work in Australia
- Availability to complete participant-specific training and competency assessments
Training and Clinical Support:
Successful applicants will receive participant-specific training from a Registered Nurse. This includes education, supervised practice and practical competency sign-off for the high-intensity supports they will provide.
Workers must demonstrate competence before completing relevant clinical tasks independently. Ongoing supervision, refresher training and reassessment will be provided to support safe and consistent care.
